Finished my '72 XL250 and had it entered into the local annual ISCA car show last weekend where it took first in class in the Competition Bike catagory, even though it's not a "Comp" bike..number plates must've fooled em..but the plaque on the wall looks nice, so I'll take it. I heard more than a ... (original story)

Good point about the bike not having anything about "replica" in its graphics anywhere. The one item that would totaly change the restoration direction of my GS, would be if I could find a Yosh pipe like the one pictured, Buelligan. Even Yoshimura Japan told me good luck finding one.. Anything else ... (original story)

Thank you for that insight Steve. Does anyone else remember it this way? I see a few revisionist histories on the internet that continue to spread the rumor of the bikes unofficial name as fact, but I don't remember anyone calling them Wes Cooley Replicas back then. There certainly aren't any... (original story)

It's a GS1000S model, but I've always thought they were designated a "Wes Cooley Replica" as a selling point.......When they hit the showrooms, everyone (including the dealer) in my part of the country called them the "Wes Cooley Replica's". While that might not of been "off... (original story)

Thank you very much for re-posting the photos. One of these days I'll take the time to get set up on Photobucket or something. The license plate hangs off the center of the rail under the tail section. It's a simple loop-clamp and a 3/4"x1/8" flat bar to attach the plate to. Looks clean, no exp... (original story)

Thanks for the compliment on the tail section. That was the most time-involved piece. Here's a pic in it's roughed-but-done phase. (original story)

My dreambike from highschool. I still have every American magazine that featured that bike in an article. They were never called 'Wes Cooley Replicas' back then, though. That nomme de plume must have gotten attached to the bike years later in the wake of Kawasaki's 'Eddie Lawson Replica'. I'... (original story)

Thanks. To the left of the bike was a display of sprint boats. The ones with Chevy small-blocks that make 90 degree turns in about two feet of water. The covered car in front was an unbelievable 33 Willys coupe that snagged a bunch of big awrds. The pics were taken the night everyone set u... (original story)
